Progress!
"Life is not just a bowl of cherries"

Here's a photo of how I left my first (ever) oil painting this afternoon. I was brought down to earth firmly when my painting companion asked "What's this yellow business?"

And here's what I hope it will look like when I'm through... (via photoshop). Hints, feedback, and observations are most welcome.

don't make the cherry stems so.... harsh? they pop out a lot and i am sure that the focus of your painting is not the cherry stems.

"What's this yellow business?" Were they BLIND?? Clearly they're lemons!

I love it, especially the blue vase/bottle. Can't wait to see the finished product!

It's nice to see where you are headed with this and I can tell that you are making good progress towards it - isn't Photoshop a fabulous tool? I agree with ds about the cherry stems - tho I'm sure you would see that as you actually painted. I really like the tone of the light hitting the edge of the table. Your color choices are fabulous.

I can't give you any advice that you haven't already had, because I can't paint anyway! But, I know what I like and I can see you're off to a good start with this. The composition is a good one, too.
