RAOK's!!

And I didn't even sign up anywhere. That's really random... and really kind.
A blogger friend who knows a bit about cancer and a lot about knitting and kindness sent post-holiday goodies!! I'll keep her anonymous, but she might tip her hat in the comments. THANK YOU, Sweetie!!

There's the cozy cap to keep my still mostly bald head covered.

And there is Knit Bits calendar and Puzzle Book to keep my brain engaged.
Oh, and Nerds. D'oh! Sweets to the sweet and all that.

It occured to me as I was reading through the Knit Bits Calendar, that the Religious Right and other Fundamentalists should be more worried about knitters than homosexuals. Maybe even more than terrorists.

Did you notice the subtitle of the calendar:
Cool Stuff to Know About the Knitting
Lifestyle.
We have a lifestyle? A lifestyle!!

And...... (drum roll, please)
KNITTERS ARE RECRUITERS.

When a complete stranger asks virtually any question about the knitting in hand, a knitter will say, "Oh, I can teach you," or "Would you like to learn how?" or "There's a wonderful Local Yarn Store just up the street where you can meet others like us, and hang out. You'll really like it!" and "It is SO much fun!"

They go on and on about how it keeps them off the streets. How they don't eat as much when they are knitting. How their friends love to hear about their latest yarn encounter. How grateful they are for their fiber friends. How they can do it any time of day or night. In the bed or in a chair. On a bus or in a car. In car pool line or in a bar.

Who's ever heard of gays recruiting so enthusiastically? NOBODY.
I've never been approached by a terrorist. They are all secretive... not at all out in the open like knitters.

So stand up, knitters and promote and protect the lifestyle from all who want evangelists and proselytizers for their sect only. Go in peace and purls.

Furthermore, knitters do RAOK's*
In my recent life I can remember just 2 ROAK's... and both came from knitters!

I will do something to do for somebody before month's end that is my version of a ROAK. Does it count if it's a relative?!!
Below is a not-s0-random act of kindness for my DH.
He told me last night, wistfully, that no one has ever knit him socks before. Isn't that sweet?
I sure hope they fit. They're looking GIANT sized... and I really don't want to frog all of these size 1 stitches!

Oh, and they're Cherry Hill Farm. So I'm hoping they don't bleed or fade. I contacted one of my LYS's and she said that she hadn't had any complaints, but that she hadn't ordered any in that were really high contrast, either...

I really like the look of the baby cable stitch. It was a new one to me.

That is so funny! I was teaching one of our carpoolers how to tell the difference between a knit stitch and a purl stitch on our way home today!
