A not so dismal swamp!

I did quite a bit of research (even if none that was on-site) for this week's topic. I didn't know the difference, really, between a swamp and a marsh. Basically, swamps have woody plants growing in water of various depths. The Dismal Swamp (on the border of Virginia and North Carolina has a large lakes in its middle: the water gets TOO deep for the tree roots to support the trees.
Marshes have reedy plants rather than woody ones. Naturally, the differences in major flora allow for differences in bird life, amphibious specimens and mammalian inhabitants.
