Sad Picture

This may be a bit raw. I just found out that a friend's sister in law died today, Christmas 2011, from adenocarcinoma. This is commonly the root of lung cancer. But it can occur in ANY gland, which was likely the case with this YOUNG woman.
It was only a few months ago when she was diagnosed with Stage IV cancer... primary site unknown. In the last two weeks she had apparently lost most function of her liver, and was not responding to even massive doses of pain killers. (Thank goodness for pain management, though. I don't think we have to fear pain much in the 21st century.)

She has two preschool children and a loving extended family. Her husband comes from intelligent, strong stock, and I am confident her children will be provided the best care and support.

But it is still sad to think of a vibrant young woman who doesn't live to see her dreams fulfilled.

If you haven't made any donations in this charitable season, perhaps the American Cancer Society would be a good idea.
