Clouds: a workshop

We commented on the irony of being indoors painting clouds on a 70 degree day with absolutely clear skies. We concentrated hard on blending, avoiding flat clouds. Some were pouffy, some dramatic and some wispy.

We worked on a blue sky background and also a yellow background influenced by J.W. Turner.
Even if you are familiar with his work, I wouldn't be surprised if you didn't make the connection between my work-in-progress and his "Burning of the House of Lords."
What is easy to blend with your eye as "flames" or smoke or reflection, is amazingly complicated when you have to put brush in paint and paint on canvas!
