Here are the first paintings of the New Year. There are things I like and don't like about each. Please let me know what you think, what you recommend, what you like and what you can't stand! Or, better yet, what do you use as a "checklist" when evaluating your work?

I love these!!! That sheep looks perfect, caught in a moment of wonder. And the colors on the second piece are fantastic.
i like that little sheep a lot. It's the texture of his wool and of the flowers that makes it look so great.
The first one is almost like a geometric abstraction. The diagonals in the composition lead the eye in and out of the painting.
The texture on the lamb & also the colours are gorgeous. I probably wouldn't have put him quite so central, so the horizon so central (but you could always life that by adding more green if you wanted to.)
The bottom one I guess is abstract expressionism. The yellow draws the eye, so becomes the focal point. That is good, but again it is a little central. If you wanted to change that, you could maybe glaze the long tail going upwards, dull it down a bit and make the focal point the lower part of yellow that goes off to the right. Don't listen to a thing I say - you don't have to agree. LOL.
