This almost looks the way I want it to. Had a great time doing it. Even with the shadows, the apple and pear look to me like they are hovering over the surface. And the background seems boring.

I often have problems with shadows and backgrounds of still life pieces. A great place to look, is Carol Marine's blog, she is a master at this. I am learning by observing at how she handles these issues. ~Heidi
