Today and yesterday were cloudless, perfect Fall days in Texas. Cool, breezy and wonderful. We drove to a nursery in Frisco (Shades of Green-- no website that I could find).

I thought the Rosemary "Christmas" trees looked like Tomtes on the march.
These climbing roses were amazing. For one thing they are still blooming profusely. they are yellow at the centers and orange on the edges. I have a climbing rose (Mermaid) that threatened to take over the South side of the house, so I'll need a trellis before I get any more! I always fall for the two toned ones.I was pleased that I could catch the way the light came through this white climbing rose.

They had planters they called "winter salad baskets" with several kinds of greens and chilis.I had a cat once that ate a chili off a house plant. As it turns out, cats don't particularly care for their taste.
If you look carefully you'll see a relatively tame/shy mockingbird which was eating bitter bird berries as fast as possible.
I loved how the fountain grass really looked like a fountain. And wished that I had the stamina to plan cyclamen this year. Aren't they beautiful?
Of course there were plenty of pansies, too. It was too nice outside to go into the green houses.
Ornamental kale. I liked these with the color contrast all in one plant. They also had deep purple ones.
This is probably how I would paint their "pottery barn" and windmill if I could paint as well as photoshop. Last Wednesday we had very high winds... which apparently bent the windmill and took off a pretty substantial hunk of roof.

Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving -- love the flower pics, it's times like this that I happily forget Texas summers and bask in Texas autumns.
humm I think that orange/yellow climbing rose is one that I have. It's called "Pinata". I'm looking forward to next spring and summer, as it's now fairly established.
Keep up your quest for health.. and OOOOO I like that nursery. I long for shopping at a nursery. Ah well, perhaps another time.
