Sad all over.
I've been sad all over after reading, watching and hearing about the battles, killings, and traumas in Lebanon, Israel, and Iraq. I don't know whether the violence is about territory, oil, religion or race at this point. I wish people would sit down, be quiet, and look towards each other in order to recognize how much more alike they are than different.
I am also sad because a good friend and I are less and less able to talk about our differences without giving the impression that the other is somehow crazy as well as mis-informed She wants respect for her beliefs, which I cannot offer. She herself has lots to like... but she wants her beliefs validated by ME. I would like her to accept that my beliefs are different from hers and that I'm happy that way.
We are at an impasse.
The good news is that there are no terrorists on her side or mine, and (to my knowledge) neither of us have guns.
Patience for one and all.
Freedom from being judged or imposed upon.

No kidding... but don't you wonder how if we can't do it locally (trust me, I have friends like yours, too...) how we expect people to be able to do so when land, territories and national/ethnic identity is involved? It is saddening. But who gives in first?
