Our town in Texas has water restrictions.
So, last week DH was putting down soaker hoses... which are legal to water your foundation so your house doesn't 'break". While he was rooting around in a bed of liriope, dusty miller and a few stray Asian lilies, his foot hit something hard and round.
He nudged it until he unearthed turtle.
From my on-line research, I am surmising it was an adult "Ornate Eastern Box Turtle) , but not all THAT old. (One source says they can live up to 80 years!!)
We pried him out of the liriope and put him on the side walk. He definitely boxed himself away while we were inspectiing him... (He'd flipped over on his back, but he was much more willing to walk back into the grass when we turned off the water..
Later 'tater.

Are you getting any rain yet?
Houston's experiencing flood warnings (not on my side of town, we're the Sahara Flats of Houston), I hope you're getting a little water too.
Cool tortoise. I want one in my backyard. I seem to have almost every other critter there.
