Don't know where to start.
I am feeling philosophical, but I don't know where to begin.
I appreciate the people who connect with me... want to start there. I guess I really AM a "social animal" even when I'm feeling cranky. I hosted a spirited discussion with a group of therapist friends this morning on the topic of "Therapism." The question is whether psychotherapy helps or hinders people. Does it make them stronger and more confident, or coddle and undermine them. I'm not sure we came to a complete agreement, unless it was that some therapies help and some don't. I liked that we listened, were excited and adjusted our opinions when we got new information that made sense to us.
Most useful thing I learned: "Evil" is a religious rather than objective or scientific concept.
Another thing I learned -- I want to read more!

Please, if you will, explain the "evil" concept more fully. Do you mean that evil was something developed by religious doctrine to instill fear and/or obedience rather than an acutal scientific phenomenon? Very interesting!!!
Good and evil are points of view. Evil for me is someone hurting another for the sake of hurting them (or not caring that they are hurting them.) To someone else, evil might be two people of the same sex loving each other. Love- evil- go figure.
Holly, you're onto something there. Keep in mind that the biblical "original SIN" is having knowledge. (The moral is, don't go asking questions your leaders don't want you to ask.) Remember, the Catholic Church imprisoned Galileo for proving that the sun did NOT go around the Earth. Makes you wonder what idiotic truths we cling to today that will prove just as rediculous tomorrow.
Working in the mental health field, and having met some pretty toxic counsellors and psychotherapists, I too wonder about the helping vs. hindering thing. I have found "Solution Focused Counselling" to be a powerful, helpful, and empowering process for people. It's very strengths based, and present moment/future directed.
