ILLUSTRATION FRIDAY - REFLECTION

I feel like a new mother... in spite of the fact that some of my youngsters/drawings are homelier than Winston Churchill, I am SOOOO enamored of them. As you can no doubt tell from the cartoonlike style, these two are "from my imagination."
And whether anybody likes them or not, I'm very pleased that I found the nerve to post them as they are not over-worked nor over-wrought.

I am a big believer in the value of journal keeping and written reflections.

Sometimes, what you see is not what you've got.

You go girl! Keep drawing and posting. You're growing as an artist and more importantly you're overcoming fears and insecurities that keep many people away from self-expression. You're doing great - it's fun to watch you evolve week to week!

I love the second one. I think that's what happens to me a lot...which, while okay for self esteem, ain't all that good for my health. :) Keep drawing!

I like both illustrations! The lines have a lot of life an movement to them... I like the little details you've put into the top drawing and the mirror in the bottom drawing.

getting over the fear is the first step in anything worthwhile. these sketches are great, the loose style is great and very appropraite to reflection. :)

'love em, even though I saw my own hiney in that second one. SOOO, are your pictures going on your refrig????? If so, and only on the refrig, it's time to step up a notch and get a couple of standard frames and mats and hang up 4 or so, but use removable tape on the pictures, so that you can change them out for new ones every so often. And enjoy them 'cause they are great and will look great on your walls.

although you said these drawings are rough 'n ready, i can tell you've put a lot of thought into this week, that the topic really meant something to you. i agree with everybody...you have a great, very distinct style that you pull off with panache...it's all you baby, it's a great finished product, whether you feel so or not!
cheers,
kerry

As Courtney pointed out, you have a wonderful looseness in your style of line work - never lose that! I liked both drawings too.

I love both your sketches.
Mostly I relate to the journaling.

I agree with what every one is saying.
Keep drawing!

I love it!! I think your drawings are great! And thanks so much for the really nice comment. It's amazing to me that someone you don't even know can tell you exactly what you need to hear :) Thanks.

Hi, first of all I want to thank you for the sweet sweet words you wrote into my blog. It's true, being sad in a beautiful city is so difficult, specially when you can watch the sea in a cloudy day... but time will heal!!
I like your drawings, especially the second one, I'll be watching your blog!!!

I love that 2nd illustration in particular. I have this problem - I call it reverse anorexia. I look in the mirror and think everything is fine - its only the scales or photographs that reveal the truth!

Wonderful. Colors and concept. I think it is difficult for most of us to put our work "out there" for everyone to see. But the art is always in the completion of such!
