"What We Need" by David Budbill**

What We Need

The Emperor,
his bullies
and henchmen
terrorize the world
every day,

which is why
every day

we need

a little poem
of kindness,

a small song
of peace

a brief moment
of joy.

This was the poem of the day. How true. How true. How true.
I think the desire to give a little kindness, a little peace and a moment of joy, no matter how brief-- is very close to my mission statement.

I managed to do those things several times today. My only client of the day experienced being with someone trustworthy, which was a big "aha." As always, when I spoke to my DD on the phone we made each other laugh... in unexpected ways and for unexpected reasons... and that made me happy. Of course I also am grateful that SHE likes to give me those moments.

From who have you received a little poem of happiness?
To whom have you given one?

Hi, I'm catching up over here after my vacation. I missed your big "first day of chemo". I'm so glad you made it through with minimal side-effects. You are kicking butt. Visualize success. It will come!
