My sleepless night last night paid off with some additional techniques. I sketched this rough first with pen and paper, then photographed it (don't have a compatible scanner!!) and uploaded it to photoshop. The cat is only moderately cat like, but I do believe the mouse has taken over control.
This has GOT to be the least credible caterpillar I've seen in a long time! I am learning lots about Photoshop, though.

That mouse shadow looks pretty scary, no wonder the cat is freakin' out! Would this be that famous mouse who Roared ? Squeak ! Squeak !
