Grandma and Grandpa took the new grand daughter and her parents out to dinner Thursday evening. JR was happy as a clam in her infant seat, watching ceiling fans and the Bruins game!
4 weeks old this coming Saturday,
She took a long nap in my arms this evening. Pretty special for me.
I read Diana Athill's great memoire (she's 90+) called Somewhere Towards the End. She says that since getting old involves so much deterioration, forgetting, and loss, it makes the growth, learning and appearance of grandchildren that much worthier of celebration and gratitude.
I totally agree.
I forgot my aches and pains when I held her.

What a lovely name...Julia Rose...and such a pretty baby. Indeed, gratitude. The sort of love that happens with a grandchild took me very by surprise.
