WHAT IS THE MATTER WITH PEOPLE?

1. Woman kills her children, ages 5 and 2, because they are autistic and she wanted normal kids. Is now on suicide watch. WHY DIDN'T FAMILY AND PROTECTIVE SERVICES RECOGNIZE THE RISKS?

2. The Barefoot Bandit's mother (allegedly) drank, shot at neighbors and/or perceived trespassers, broke his toys, had serial boyfriends and did not provide adequate food for her child. He was smart enough to steal food, run away, get sent to a "locked facility," steal airplanes and fly them to remote vacations (even though his landings were beyond "rough"). He's the one who may do big time jail time. Am I crazy for thinking they could remake Les Mis or a revised "Catch me if you can" based on him? WHY DIDN'T/COULDN'T THE SOCIAL WORKER WHO WORKED WITH HIM AT AGE 12 DO SOMETHING MORE THAN TAKE NOTES?

Yeah, I know it is probably hypocritical, but I'm glad he's got fans on FaceBook. He deserved more fans when he was a toddler.

3. Ed Breitbart twists a video, inflames Glen Back, gets a woman fired, SNAFU is revealed between Obama, White House and Department of Agriculture. And, can you spell sociopath? If it is political and too weird to be believed, WHY DO WE (and CNN, FOX "news" et al) BELIEVE IT?

4. A woman and her boyfriend are accused of keeping their children in a motel bathroom for months. The boyfriend was seen sexually assaulting the girl when she was 10. The 11 year old weighed 59 pounds, the 10 year old weighed 58, the 5 year old 29 pounds, but the one year old was "fine"-- perhaps because she is the biological child of the boyfriend? There food in the hotel refrigerator -- cake, ice cream, chicken, rice and hot dogs, which the children gulped down when they were rescued. WHY DIDN'T ANYBODY LOCAL INTERVENE SOONER?

I will be nosier, braver and more caring. Safety, fairness and nurturing are values I promote.

Oh, and I just remembered. They're killing song birds in Europe. TO EAT.
