I find it hugely ironic that my personal growth has involved unlearning a great deal of advice I was given in the past: as a child, as a student, as a mother, as an intern. And now that I am perceived to be a professional advice giver, I realize that advice itself is a thicket best cut through based on one's own values and character.

Now all I can say to that sentiment is...AMEN! What a shame it takes us all a while to realize that.
