YOU JUST CAN'T PREDICT

I had two nice surprises today. Both involved discovering something unexpected and out-of-place.

First was this blossom in the middle of my grassy, weedy "garden." I'm sure it's from a bulb I planted, and I am sure I don't know what kind it is. Isn't it amazing?

Second was a Flamenco Guitarist and Accordionist at our local burger hangout (Country Burger at Independence and Parker). CB hasn't ever had live music before. The midday Sunday crowd is often 50% post-church folk and 50% folks who got up late.

So imagine my amused irony when two fellows came in (pressed shirts, dark slacks, dress shoes) with their gilt-edged Bibles and the musical duo not only continued playing with a middle-Eastern Klezmer style, but played a fantasie (or just improvised) on Hava Nagila.

That's NOT what people usually mean when they say "only in Texas."
