The BonnyStudio had a French Impressionist event Friday. Wine, cheese, chocolate and impressionism with pastels.
First we worked from well known artists' painted inspirations.

First we worked from well known artists' painted inspirations. This was based on "Menton as seen from Cap Martin" by Monet.

Later we worked from photographs to learn to think for ourselves what to emphasize, lighten, darken, etc.
Fairly productive considering our 2 1/2 hour session included an introduction to the edibles and potables (cloudberry wine from a French Canadian was lip smacking yummy), a demon by Bonny herself, and then digging into the pastel trays.
Neither piece is complete... but I can at least say I'm acquainted with pastels and sanded paper!
