Illustration Friday - Imagine

Everything is simpler than you think,
And at the same time
More complex than you imagine.
Goethe

This began as a photograph of an amaryllis last year... The bulbs are simple and complex enough just the way they are. I tried to amplify both the sense of simplicity and complexity (and awe) with photoshop.

In what ways did I, or did I not, succeed?

It looks as if it has been covered in fine snow crystals! It's very beautiful. You've kept the simple and complex qualities, but you've added another dimension that looks like magic... a sprinkle of fairy dust!

Really beautiful. Intelligent Design aside, the complexities found in nature are awesome. I see an aspect of wonder here. And that always starts to lead to imagining. The subject 'flower' speaks simplicity, but you've opened it and let us look a little closer. Very nice.

I think that the flower is really cool. Some parts look really textured, and some are very blurry. It makes for an interesting look that is both simple and complex.

I think that if the background were more simple (maybe more flat looking) it would accentuate the beauty of the flower more. But that's just me.

It's multidimensional, and soft. I like it.
