Happy St. Nicholas Day!
When my kiddos were small, we subscribed to the tradition of inviting St. Nicholas to leave treats in their shoes on the eve of his Saint's day. Even though I reminded them to leave their shoes out, they were always surprised (and pleased) in the morning. Sometimes it was peppermints, sometimes it was Nerds, sometimes it was loose change.

While I don't miss extra smelly shoes around the house, I miss having anybody to do this for. Hmmm. Maybe My husband needs some Hershey kisses in his HushPuppies.

Dear PainterWoman,
Thank you and I know I owe you answers to questions you asked...it's just that I am really busy at the moment (you'll go: yeah, yeah, who isn't?) and keep procrastinating writing e-mails. I also don't get around to reading blogs much, I have a lot of catching up to do.

Nikolaus is a special day in Germany, here no one really cares, but at least I can try and remember how it was, no? I am amazed that you know about it, but then with German ancestry, how couldn't you?

So "Alles Gute zum Nikolaus!" and take care!

Dear Mom -

If you are looking for someone to do this for, I will gladly mail you my shoes. This is something (along with the glass pickle and advent calendars) that I can't wait to do with my own kiddos one day.

Love you,
Wendy

Cool, you used to do St. Nikolaus? We woke up to lots of lovely goodies yesterday.
