Illustration Friday - Float

As you can no doubt tell, this is mostly a photograph! From the St. Louis gardens on a VERY hot humid day. If I thought it would have been cooler in the water than out, I might have joined these waterlilies and floated.

Comments on composition, color, etc. welcome.

I love what you did with the lily pads and the deep shadows on the water...really nice...it's representative and abstract at the same time.

The onscreen colour balances are excellent and the sharpening contrasts that you've done, bringing out those "drawn" edges, really adds.

Overall, a strong composition. I find my eye "stepped" across it starting at top left, then to the flowers and down the channel to the foreground, so it works for me! Having those lilies at top right provides effective natural framing and the placement of the other three is just right, particularly the way one reflection is shown (the centrepiece of this picture) and the other obscured, with that little one emerging inbetween.

An expert image.
