Illustration Friday - Broken

As always the process was interesting and absorbing.
And like most times, the execution doesn't live up to the challenge of my dream.

I get so excited and enthusiastic, that I can't stand NOT to show my work... even if it is not ready for prime time.

What do YOU do at times like that? Put your "work" aside and start over? Keep working at it? Do something "completely different"? Vow to practice and apply your new knowledge next time? All of the above?

As always, reactions, observations and suggestions are welcome. That's part of how I learn.

Your idea is brilliant! The egg is very eggy and overall you shouldn’t be worrying! Only suggestion would to make the stone sharp and hard - not fuzzy like a potato :)

I use the first idea, post it no matter how I feel about it, no re-working afterwards. More about seeing others' work and participating :)

I get very excited and post as soon as possible. I'll often look back and see every imperfection and glitch but it keeps me fresh and thinking.

I end up starting over again, sometimes with a whole new idea...

I agree with anonymous. Maybe a less blurred stone would contrast well against the egg.

I like the colours in the egg a lot. Looks edible, ya know? LOL

Heh. That's pretty funny. Nice spin on the concept. I argue with rocks occasionally. They are much harder than most people think. I advise you, egg or human, to not leave them alone. They aren't nice.

I just keep working the idea to see what happens. I like your take on this and the proverb.

Love the proverb and illo!

It's been so great to see your work progress - this is nicely done, well balanced, and you did a nice job incorporating the proverb. As to posting your work - I like to use every post both to share and to learn. I see most faults after I step back from something, and sometimes wish I could "take it back" - but I'd be denying myself the growing process. You're doing a great job!

I know exactly what you're talking about...the grand ideas in your head and then struggling to get it out the way you envisioned it. I like what you've done here...the egg looks very viscuous, and the proverb is wonderful. I like it very much:>

Awww. I really like it! And that saying is so true!

For the most part, I'm the "egg" and no-matter-how-right-I-am... sometimes i forget i'm talkin' to a hard-headed rock. Maybe if I were just a little boulder....

:O)

Nice work!!

How fun! What a great illustration. As for the constructive feedback from "anonymous" and "catnap" that the rock could be less fuzzy- I agree. It looks great now but might emphasize the point of the proverb more if the rock looks meaner. Tougher around the edges.

A really great choice for 'broken'..oh please oh please oh please, I want to remember the proverb!

I like to set a problem child aside... and start over... but not seriously... just hack away, and be free. Usually I will find the answer to the first ones' problem quickly in the second one, or the second one will take wing, and I'll just continue on from there. (that is written as clear as mud isn't it:))

I liked your 'broken' very much!

I always just show it...it's just more fun! Even if you see imperfections, the only thing you can do as an artist is learn from them and keep drawing :)

I like your illo, very creative!

And me, Monica? NEVER! :P Bwahaha!

Haha, that is so true! I thought of drawing the broken egg too. Glad that you did. And you did a wonderful job!
