Finally!
I knew what I wanted to do as soon as I read this week's topic. And then... IT REQUIRED SOME RESEARCH! These need more research on the leaves... but I wanted to post sooner rather than later.

Obviously these are not "finished" because there's no "composition" or even "layout" to speak of. (and I don't know how far potatoes are from their greens.
I scanned my sketchbook entries and worked with those.
Aren't you grateful for the botanists who knew to name potatoes Kennebeck, Vardaman... and especially those LSU folks who named a sweet potato Beauregard! And if there were a beet battle, would you bet on Pablo? Shioggia? Red Ace? or Gladiator?
Comments (botanical OR artistic) welcome.

These are great! It's a little illustrated handbook of edible roots...very nice:>
These are terrific! Gives a new meaning to roots for the IF entries, not sure I saw any other root vegetables :)
I've seen this no lay out or composition? labeled as a study in other blogs, so I'd say you have an outstanding study here, well done

I really love these! They're just so much fun and bring me *way* back to the days that I worked at a "gourmet farmstand" and had to know the names of all kinds of crazy fruits and veggies.
These are really terrific! I love "botany" style art...looks like a gardener's journal. Your drawings are really solid and I like your lettering. This is really good stuff, I can tell it was a lot of work!! Well done!
These are great pictures! I can just see them on the cover of seed packets. Good job!
Beautiful! Thanks for the comment on my site which led me to check yours out and I'm glad I did!
What a great way to illustrate roots!
I really like what you have done here!
