This is how i started the morning... Hadn't really slept, but I still had my own hair. Hubby and I were sniping a little. He wanted me to be on-time. I wanted him to be calm. Let's just say that neither of us got exactly what we wanted. We kissed and made up before we got to the wig shoppe though.

The receptionist soon made this little critter out of my shorn hair. I hope I get to keep my eyelashes.

When we first arrived, the wig staff didn't remember who I was, whether our insurance would cover the wig, blah blah blah. Then their hair stylist went at me with thinning shears and a razor. His plan was to let me know how I'd look three or four months after chemo.

I was pretty much freaking out inside while he cut it short. short. short. You might be able to tell because of what is showing on the outside.
Bonker babe.

I now have very short hair that is very "loose", a wig, and bottles of hair product that I won't need for at least 6 months. Oh, and the hairy desk toy.

I am somewhat uncertain about whether I like the wig. I suppose having a cowlick in a wig makes it seem more natural... They gave me wig shampoo... but said if it gets lackluster, I can always wash it in woolite and shake it dry like you would a paint brush. How appropriate.

I wore the wig while we went and got St. Lewis Pizza and drinks at Borders. It was wonderful to take it off when I got home... my scalp had been itching and steaming a little. I think there was definitely a biker-chick attitude emerging from under the wig, don't you?

I bought a "night cap" because the wig receptionist said my head would get cold and I'd want something to keep myself warm. I bet I can use it after my hair comes in if I start giving Tarot Card readings.

I also made a pretty substantial addition to my stash... Lion Brand Fun Furs and Microfiber to make fuzzy chemo hats out of, in case i get brave enough to skip the wig, or if I don't want to wear a scarf. They look pretty together... I hope they feel cool and pretty enough for fall. The one called "copper" is almost my dyed hair color...

I love the wig! Sort of free and funky. I've always wondered what I would do in your situation...go wig or scarves or what the hell bare. Still not sure, but God forbid, if I ever need to make the choice, I want to have the depth of spirit you have! Not having to wash my hair so ofter sounds kinda fine, too. :-)

I want to know if you can really just shake a wig out...?!

And that is awesome that they make the smiley face thingy from your hair...!
