She's on your right. My left.

But the real news? I now have RED hair! (It's always been blonde.)
I was relieved that I could still tell it was "me" in the mirror. (If you've ever ever looked in the mirror and not seen yourself, you can understand being concerned that such a huge change would somehow erase your real self and soul and everything.)
So it's ME! Whew!
It's more than me, too. Somebody more... Somebody brave, and fun, and unpredictable.
Wheeeeeeeeee.
This is how Run Lola! Run! would look if I were in it. (Except I couldn't do all that running. No way!)

I received Danny Gregory's book today: Everyday Matters. It is SO poignant and inspiring. I sat down and read the whole thing through. I want to try to draw my cat on the back of the sofa, and our kitchen pot rack, and the pepper grinder, and the clutter on my end of the bathroom sink, and a self-portrait...
And yet I didn't/haven't sat down with pen/paint/paper today.
Well. That's the breaks. I did a lot of stuff.
Here's how I spent my time.
I met the vicar who helped me prepare the church retreat last month. What a great person. I am looking to knowing her better and better. I think she maybe misses "therapist types" to talk to in the middle of church administration and the "religion business."
Then I bought some flowers because the heat finally fried my pansies.

Purslane and lavender

and a potato vine to contrast with the purple wandering jew.
This is the needy garden... There's wandering jew in the back, lavender in the middle, phlox of some sort at the very front and crab grass, oxalis, weedy weeds in the middle.

I got new garden gloves, root stimulator and am ready to hoe and cultivate the weeds under, add humus and mulch and have beauty for my tired eyes by August.
Next, I bought the hair dye, and some eyebrow pencil to draw in my eyebrows if my bangs don't cover where they should be after my hair falls out... and coppery lipstick to "go" with my hair...
Then I did three loads of wash and put away, um, 60% of the clutter in the bedroom.
And cooked a pork tenderloin and cooked gnocchi with fontina (yummy) and a mixed green salad with crasins, bleu cheese, almonds, carrot shreds and apples. Yummy x 2.
Then dear husband came home with a headache... but he felt better after dinner.
I hope to get up pretty early and plant the purslane, lavender and potato.
Yesterday I took photos of the Llamas that seem to have replaced the sheep at a tiny farm in the middle of our metroplex. Don't they have funny profiles?

I made a note of the grounds keepers address. I hope he/she will introduce me to the llamas, tell me where the sheep went and let me draw some of them (the animals, not the people!) up close. Unless they spit too much.
Even with multiple side effects waiting for me on Friday, I have lots to do and am upbeat.
And for that, I am grateful.

Way to go Painter. What happens if your hair doesn't fall out??? Some people don't go bald - some go in straight and come out curly, some go dark and some go grey. Where do you want to go to today???
I want to know where the sheepies went, too! Keep us posted.
Sounds like you were superproductive today on many fronts. Congrats!
Tough to tell from the distance, but those look like alpaca, not llama... how tall are they? Alpaca stop at about 5 ft to the top of the head, llama go above 6 ft to the top of the head.... (alpaca are friendlier, too, but don't say that to a llama breeder)
Your hair looks terrific - good for you for taking the plunge!
I hate my full-time job, and I'm still so pooped from the surgery and after-effects of no-thyroidism that going into the office two more days a week would be my second choice to midieval torture. Plus, I teach knitting the days I don't go in, and I have lots of knitting and spinning at home, and furry little gentlemen that I love to be around... so no missing the office yet. When my voice recovers more, I start a search for another job altogether, so I don't have to continue at the one I'm at now, and I'm subtley training the part-timers who fill in for me while I'm not there to replace me completely...
oooooo...llamas! I love me some llamas! I love all animals. All of 'em, although there are some I'd prefer not to encounter in a shadowy alley if you know what I mean. And I like most insects too. But not mosquitoes. And I've got a kinds love/hate relationship going on with spiders. and some of those centipede-things are really crepy. Hmmm... may have to rethink the declarations of affection vis-a-vis insects. I'll get back to you on that.
Just wanted to say that I'm so glad you dropped by my little slice o' the blogosphere and respond to your inquiry regarding knotters. I do not knit myself, no. that is absolutely true. But I have nothing but shining regard for those who do and as i see you are into the knitty thing, please please go visit Martha at http://naiveknitting.typepad.com/ she will change your world. She's the most glorious kind of artistan and is a shining beacon of creativity and has had the most profound effect on me in terms of expanding my definition of true creative genius. You will adore her, just as I do.
And finally... I am a kiddie lit freak 9pretty much all I read) and my ultimate goal in life is to write and illustrate a Caldecott award winner. I've already illustrated a couple kids books 9and am in the process of illustrating another), and am incubating a couple of story ideas of my own that I hope to get around to in the next decade. but I had never heard of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler before! I've marked it on my list and will seek it out soonest! Thank you! Right up my alley. am also HUGE fan of Danny Gregory.
O...that last one? Was from me, Wee. (http://weeme.diaryland.com
