DO YOU KNOW THIS PLANT?

Mystery vine... and it has tentacles...
Here's the blossom and here's the "fruit" or gourd or something

I left the fruit/gourd/vegetable on the bird feeder. So far nothing has expressed any interest in it.
That doesn't seem like a great sign as far as human consumption, do you think? It was firm to the touch... which makes me think it's greenness is a statement about being unripe as much as anything else. There are other of these that are also growing... I'm going to see what happens if I leave them past the green phase.

The vine is growing out of unused pots... I DID NOT PLANT THIS!
Is it like the immaculate conception? An immaculate implantation by the Unseen Gardener?

If the vine takes over more than twenty square feet, I'm getting a machete.

Looks to me like a member of the pumpkin family and is definitely not ripe. The flowers are a delicacy dipped in tempura batter and deep fried.

Looks like a mutant of some sort. Perhaps a pimpkin or zucchini fornicated and there's the result when the seed sprouted. let that be a warning to us all!

I'd say that it's almost definitely a pumpkin; they're quite green when unripe, and slowly go orange all over as they ripen. And Anonymous is right -- pumpkin blossoms are -delicious!- :)

it is a pumpkin. i had that in my garden two years ago but there were some insects that have eaten them before they can get bigger and ripe. the flowers can also be added to a fish soup but anonymous recipe is better.
