What if???
I found this on an illustrator blog. She was kind enough to not "tag" someone else to do it, but encouraged anybody who wanted to to select five of these statements and then tag three other bloggers. But I am not really comfortable tagging anyone else...so I will let my readers decide if they would like to do this, themselves... If you do, let me know, so we can read your answers.

Here are the statements to choose from:

If I could be a scientist...
If I could be a farmer...
If I could be a musician...
If I could be a doctor...
If I could be a painter...
If I could be a gardener...
If I could be a missionary...
If I could be a chef...
If I could be an architect...
If I could be a linguist...
If I could be a psychologist...
If I could be a librarian...
If I could be an athlete...
If I could be a lawyer...
If I could be an innkeeper...
If I could be a professor...
If I could be a writer...
If I could be a backup dancer...
If I could be a llama-rider...
If I could be a bonnie pirate...
If I could be a midget stripper...
If I could be a proctologist...
If I could be a TV-Chat Show host...
If I could be an actor...
If I could be a judge...
If I could be a Jedi...
If I could be a mob boss...
If I could be a fast food restaurant worker...
If I could be a preacher..

If I could be a painter I would be disciplined and eccentric at the same time. I would paint early in the morning and very late at night. I would make exploring the world and reflecting it the center of my oeuvre. I would always try new classes and techniques. I would share anything I had learned.

If I could be a TV-Chat Show host I would insist on having guests that were of interest to me rather than just people who had a book or tv show or movie to "pitch." I would make sure there were always people who had interesting ideas and who liked to think.

If I could be a mob boss I would know how to be tough, focused and cautious about achieving my ambitions. My mob would break up corrupt networks wherever they were found.

If I could be a scientist I would contact the above mob boss to make sure that every person understood the value and necessity of scientific method-- in contrast to fantasy, wishfull thinking and/or myth.

If I could be an innkeeper it would be overlooking the surf, relatively temperate and not overly convenient to get to. One month per year, I would offer free lodging to people I wanted to meet. We would have retreats or working sessions to write, paint, sing, think or solve problems.

Okay, anyone else want to try this?

Can I sign up for free lodging month? :-)

I'll just do one...

If I could be a preacher, I would tell everyone that they were good, that they were loved, that the earth is a scared place, that death is nothing to be afraid of, and that if they treat one another with respect and a little kindness, then they'll be okay.

I think this is wonderful. I just put it on my livejournal page, and here are my answers:

If I could be a preacher I think I would tell everybody that God does exist, but that he or she is whatever we hold them to be inside of us, closest to us, dearest to us. I would say that no matter what identity we choose to give to that higher being the only thing that is for sure is that it would have absolutely nothing to do with hate, revenge, or malice, but that those things are among the many things that we have the rights to make choices about for our own lives. Which would bring me to the most important thing in my sermon: Don't look to anything outside of yourself for salvation, because in order to be a human being of substance and integrity we must take responsibility for everything we do and choose for ourselves. That is our God-given freedom and we mustn't cheapen it by not making it our own.

If I could be a llama-rider I would specialise in long-distance events and my llama and I would be more colleagues and partners rather than rider and steed. And because of this we would have great success and that would translate into all other llama-riders, and all other animal-owners(?) following my lead and treating their animals with dignity and respect in order to get the best out of them...much like we should do with our fellow men and women.

If I could be an innkeeper my pub would be the coolest around and everybody would want to be there! There would be lines around the block and up the street to get inside. There would be no entrance fee. And why would my pub be so popular? The cost of your food and drinks would be reliant on your personal income, and the more you paid for your food and drinks (meaning the richer you were), the more food and drinks the people who could pay nothing would get, and everybody would like each other.

If I could be a painter I wouldn't have as much trouble starting (or finishing) a painting as I do now.

If I could be a gardener my major aim in life would be to plant a forest. I really do have a black thumb, but I've always had this dream that I would one day be able to acquire some land and spend as much time as I could manage planting a forest. Watching it grow and nurturing it would be simply amazing...and I have no idea how big or small it would need to be either. I'd just like to plant a forest.
