WIP's

Sock and a tenth

This is my first sock. Ever. It actually fits me! and I did a sneaky three needle bind off instead of the Kitchner stitch. I hope to defy the traditional DSSS (Dreaded Second Sock Syndrome) and have these finished soon so I can begin knitting the lovely Twinkletoes yarn.

Baby Basketweave

Yes, this is acrylic. And I probably got it from Walmart before my Anti-Urban Sprawl sensitivities were heightened. But boy it is light, soft and WASHABLE.
It might be an heirloom... because if it doesn't pill up, it will be indestructable!
Notice the lovely seed stitch border. I combined the pattern from that little spiral book, A zillion knitting stitches for the whole year
did some math (!) and cast on a number of stitches to have seed stitch, basketweave repeats AND a 1st and last stitch. I am very proud of myself. Since the new mama's Dad hasn't told me whether his grandbaby arrived yet, this little blankie might just go into THIS future grandma's hope chest.

Lime with envy (a shawl/wrap/extravaganga)

An online friend sent me this yarn combo . I'm wishing I actually charted the YO's, increases and decreases in advance. That would have been SO unlike me!! .... because the shape of this is gathering an organic momentum of it's own. However, it drapes beautifully and catches the light with sparkles. I may weave ribbon through some of the eyelets AND add tassels. I can call it reversion to my gypsy/hippy phase.

The Spice Metallic has EVERY color in the rainbow in it. :-)

Dread Poncho from Hell

Actually this is my LYS's "easy summer poncho" from 2004.

Does it look like teletubby vomit to you? You know, the blue one?

It's supposed to be a K2tog/Yo pattern-- or maybe it was P2tog.
Anyway, I cannot for the life of me remember to do the 2tog AND the YO part over and over and over... so the number of stitches varied, (or, more likely increased) which left me with rhomboids rather than rectangles... and anybody knows that rhomboids over big boobs is... a BAD THING.

I've tinked, ripped and cursed at the first skeins of this so often, it's amazing it didn't self-destruct into shreds... then I searched via eBay to get MORE, because... um... MORE will make it "better"... right? (DH has NOT been at all impressed with this, even if I offered to model it in the buff... maybe that was the PROBLEM...)

But, dammit, I will finish this... (but it might end up as camo netting on an oceanic isle somewhere. Do not wait for any kinky photos. It ain't gonna happen!)
