Still Learning

I wore myself into a frazzle yesterday afternoon.
I am learning some new techiques for my day job, which are rocking my world-- and not in such a good way. I needed repairs on:

* my thinking- which I've usually been proud of
* my organization- which was about as solid as the New Orleans levees before Katrina
* my energy levels - which were compromised for most of last year
* and last, but not least, my confidence.

DH who is expertly organized dragged me to the Office Store and I now have a cleaned out/maxed out/tricked out organizer. I'm even pretty excited about putting a do to list down for Sunday (for heaven's sake!!) and seeing what I can get done.
Stay tuned.
Oh, and he said I am definitely supposed to put fun stuff on my list.

That's what go me. I might never have known that it was OK to set fun priorities for ME. My daughter learned it. My son might know it too well, I'm not positive. But I avoided scheduling, or rather, allowing myself to schedule "fun stuff" because I knew that the DRAGONLADY from the past would some blow fierce fire and probably brimstone, if I hadn't done everything else SHE wanted me to do.

Maybe I'll put an action item on my list:

Slay the DRAGONLADY and paint a picture of it.

In lieu of a separate entry... here's what I got done today/Sunday.

  1. Discarded and shredded a carton of out-of-date files
  2. Found time to knit, wrote two pieces of marketing text for my business
  3. took a nap
  4. watched the sad defeat of my favorite Hockey Team
  5. dead-headed my roses
  6. pulled weeds, and
  7. made a grocery list. I only have one business meeting scheduled tomorrow, so I can run errands and make phone calls.
Feels good.

Okay. Have you read/seen that email forward about the professor who used rocks and sand in a jar to make a point about priorities? That, as cheesy as it is/was, made a HUGE impact on me in thinking about how I want to spend my time. That and a professor I had in college. Let me know if you want to hear more... :)

Hi there -- I just wanted to thank you so very much for the incredibly kind comment you left on my blog the other day. It left such an impression on me and your words of kindness made my day. How is that just knowing someone else is wishing you well and sending good vibes can make such a difference?

Anyway, your blog looks quite intriguing, and while it's way past my bedtime for tonight, I plan to come back soon to linger a bit more.

Thanks again.

Post chemo fatigue is real- do not feel guilty if it takes a year or more to find your energy levels getting back to what you deem normal.
Also, I am not sure about the meeting you asked me about...what do the initials stand for? I am a little slow. :) But I would love to see you and exchange goodies!! I will be at Gilda's from 9 - 5 today and then the staff is all going to a fancy dinner with the board!! Woo Hoo!!
