Galveston Arches (2)
Originally uploaded by Sultry

DH and I are in Galveston for the Memorial Day weekend. There are plenty of architectural surprises, friendly people, waves, pelicans and people. I was unfamiliar with the Galveston Arches among many other landmarks. Paintings and sketches forthcoming.

To my astonishment, there is an exhibit about them in New York's Cooper Hewitt museum that got written up in the NY Times, TODAY!!

You can see all the photographs I've taken so far HERE.

AH and I were in Galveston a couple of years ago and I really enjoyed it there. Loved the architecture and the tree lined streets. Hope you have a lovely, restful holiday.

Looks like a fun getaway! We always get my father-in-law's requisite holiday fruit cake from Collin St. Bakery by mail order :)
