Stormy weather

Night before last I was sound asleep and missed the 75 mph winds, hail and rain and possible tornadoes that rumbled across North Texas. Fortunately we didn't have damage at the house, but one of the primo intersections in town was a big mess.
One of the few vertical posts in the area was the TV truck's broadcast antenna.

We don't usually watch channel 4, so I don't know who this guy was. He did NOT need his rain gear Friday morning. It was BEAUTIFUL weather, as it often is after big storms.
They did have a good view to the NW corner of the intersection where the majority of the utility repairmen were... and the majority of the downed utility poles.
On a good day, all of the lines are the same distance off the ground, and all of the poles are VERTICAL. It wasn't such a good day for lots of folks. No power, no signals, no thru-way.
This is the view to the South from across the street. By the time I took these shots, the PPD had figured out how to actually be helpful and get people where they wanted to go by routing them through the parking lots of Home Depot, Krogers, Albertson's and Napa Auto Parts!
This guy was casting a line to "catch" the power lines and hook them together... or something.

We have lots of Bradford Pears in this area. They tend to split right down the middle. You can see one (shorter and greener) in the background below. The Oaks are slower growing, more expensive if you buy them big, but hardier.
Lots of people lost shingles or whole roofs. This roof is of the gym where Carly Patterson of Olympic fame trained. Summer camp will either be delayed, wet, or under a new roof, I believe.
