When in doubt, eat.

Actually, we didn't have that much doubt!

Yesterday DH and I were meandering around in the heat procuring fertilizer, birdseed and Round-Up expecially for killing Poison Ivy. Yay! Home Depot!!

THANK YOU DH for protecting your damsel from further distress!!

Then we got hungry. So we tried a newcomer to one of our local "urban centers" called Fox Sports Grill. It isn't really owned by Fox Sports, but $$$ were exchanged to use the name. I have no idea who benefits more.

Now I enjoyed Irish pubs when in Ireland. But it was more the atmosphere than the food, which tended to be heavy with butter, melted cheese, gravy or heavy cream. Waddle Waddle Waddle. American sports bars tend to be way too loud (for my taste), as well as fraught with cheese sauce, sour cream, and grease in many forms.

But Fox Sports Grill had variety. Sure, we succumbed to the "bar food" appetizer: Blue cheese chips. YUM! Homemade, THIN potato chips with crumbled blue cheese, minced tomato, green onion and what I thought was Seasoned Salt. DH thought it was plain paprika. YUM!

Then a truly light, refreshing salad with mixed greens, pear chunks, more blue cheese, candied pecans and craisins. The dressing was light and tart. As supper cheery Rachel Ray would say, it was a party in my mouth.

DH, though, I thought might have a Melanie Griffith moment when we gave into the servers recommendation of "Grilled Carrot Cake." Who knew you could put slices of carrot cake (sans frosting) into a George Forman/panini pan, lace it with vanilla bean ice cream and MORE candied pecans? Well you can. And you should.

Oh, and in case you were wondering, they had Bass Ale on tap.

So I went home pretty happy.

Happy enough to get out one of my UFO's.
The Arrowhead Lace Baby Blanket.
It is still tricky knitting.

I've tinked and frogged about as much as I've knit. Some of the pattern has come back to me, and then (obviously) sometimes it goes someplace else.

I'm going to a Baby Shower next week, and fortunately have a previously knit blanket to present... but this one will take some serious time investment WITH CONCENTRATION to get right!!

Are you doing a lace pattern every row or every other row? Mine's every other - I don't know if I could pay attention THAT much on something. I need that row of purls to rest my brain. :)

SO, where are pictures of the Clapotis, lady?? ;)

I don't know what's more stunning - the amazing baby blanket or the GRILLED CARROT CAKE. When we were in the States last, our sports pub waitressed tried to entice us with something called "deep fried cheesecake". I thought she was kidding but now I'm not so sure . . .

Meg Ryan, not Melanie Griffiths... Sorry.
